liberals -- chris matthews agreed. pretty amazing. thank you. appreciate it. >> sean: coming up, stunned and left in total disbelief, the president's media army is spinning every ridiculous story to explain president obama's implosion. but i think al gore has found the single, stupidest excuse i have ever found. and then the liberal media tried to have a field day with our reporting of the never-before-seen minutes of the racially-charged 2007 speech. we have more disturbing tapes and we will play it -- the stuff that the networks will not play. another look at the real obama so, we all set? i've got two tickets to paradise! pack your bags, we'll leave tonight. uhh, it's next month, actually... eddie continues singing: to tickets to... paradiiiiiise! no four. remember? whoooa whooaa whooo! you know ronny, folks who save hundreds of dollars by switching to geico sure are happy. and how happy are they jimmy? happier than eddie money running a travel agency. get happy. get geico. fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more. >> sean: the president's allies were left stunned stunne

outhustled, outfacted, outenergized and outinformed president obama. msnbc's chris matthews, an old pal of mine, completely went off the rails. take a listen to this. >> where was obama tonight? romney, i love the split screen. staring at obama. addressing him like the prey. he did it just right. i'm coming at an incumbent. i got to beat him. you got to beat the champ and i'm going to beat him tonight. what was romney doing? he was winning. >> he sure was, chris. he was winning big time. so now that romney is on a roll, where does he run after last night's sweeping win? let's talk. here now is democratic strategist steve mcmahon. and then cnbc contributor geoff jennifer rubin, author of the "washington post" right turn blog. jennifer was it a game changer for the whole presidential race? >> it potentially can be. what has to happen now romney has to build on that day after day. the difficulty they've had, this was true in the primary as well, they have a few good days and then they get off message or they fumble the ball a little bit. if they can string together one good day after anoth

by the president's looking down. chris matthews brought that up several times. these are small pieces of the puzzle we cannot stress enough. we don't know if mitt romney will get a bump from this, but his appearance proved that he came to play ball, and he came to play hardball with the president. do we have any more insight into the strategy down to the whole looking at his papers the entire time or much of the time when romney was confronting him? >> tamron, we don't have any idea on the strategy. to a lot of people it looked like to borrow a football team doing a little defense, not too aggressive and above the fray, keep your lead. as we know in politics as well as in football, sometimes when you have a defense, you can give up an easy, quick score. that seemed it to happen last night. you regarded about the lack of fight for president obama. i don't think it was surprising that mitt romney had a good debate performance. a lot of us expected that. i think what surprised everyone was president obama didn't seem up and as energized as mitt romney was. >> i think you're absolutely right on that. t
